Design of a community center developed as part of an academic urban proposal, focused on creating flexible spaces for social interaction, cultural activities, and digital access. The project addresses the needs of different age groups, integrating community-oriented functions within a compact urban setting.
Short Description:
The project was developed as an extension of a previous urban proposal, selecting a specific site to introduce a small-scale cultural center responding to the needs of the local community.
Project Context:
The design focuses on creating a multifunctional community space that supports both younger and older users. It integrates areas for digital access, cultural activities, and social interaction, emphasizing adaptability and inclusive use within the neighborhood.
Design Concept / Approach:
The project prioritizes the use of traditional and locally available materials such as brick and bamboo, minimizing the use of concrete. Structural elements are resolved with concrete only where necessary, reinforcing a sustainable and context-responsive approach.
Material Strategy:
The spatial organization is based on clear circulation and flexible layouts, allowing different activities to coexist within the same structure. The design promotes openness and accessibility, encouraging community engagement and interaction.
Spatial Strategy:
The proposal responds to the specific needs of the local population, providing spaces tailored to both younger users, with a focus on digital connectivity, and older adults, with areas designed for social and cultural activities.
